Protecting the Environment while creating economic value for municipalities and the private sector.

Landfill gas generated at municipal solid waste landfills consists predominantly of methane and carbon dioxide. Methane, which is a greenhouse gas, is 21 times more detrimental to the atmosphere than carbon dioxide.

The U.S. Conference of Mayors and a number of local governments have taken the position that local authorities should strive to reduce emissions through local policies and programs.  Controlling methane emissions by converting them to production grade gas is the single most effective and profitable initiative that many municipalities can take today to improve their environmental performance.  Furthermore, the recent increase in the cost of energy changes the economic s of many sites which were deemed not exploitable.

Protecting the environment, reducing taxes and providing a competitive source of energy to the private sector can all be accomplished as the example of the City of LaGrange demonstrates it.

Participant Profile

This by invitation only high profile event will bring together local government officials and executives interested in starting methane production facilities.  Municipalities or counties may constitute delegations with representatives of potential private sector partners using methane.  This workshop can accommodate up to 30 delegations with a maximum of 80 participants.
