CIFAL-Atlanta, a North American affiliate of the United Nations Institute for Research and Training (UNITAR), will partner with the airport to deploy international programs for local authorities and aviation managers throughout the western hemisphere.

"Atlanta is a global city, said Mayor Shirley Franklin. "We are growing more international everyday, and I thank CIFAL for recognizing our contributions and choosing us for the site for this important training."

Axel Leblois, CIFAL-Atlanta’s executive director, noted that Atlanta was the ideal partner because it has the busiest airport in the world and has established a worldwide benchmark in quality service.

There are only 12 CIFAL International Training Centers throughout the world. They provide training for mayors, governors and other municipal leaders, as well as business and industry executives worldwide. This is the first partnership that focuses on the role of airports in fostering economic development.
