CITY AIDS AMERICAS
Americas Leadership Initiative for AIDS Competence in Cities

City AIDS Network is a key component of the solution to reach one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of eradicating HIV/AIDS by fostering the ownership and competency of local authorities in responding to the pandemic in urban areas. Our mission is to provide local authorities and local actors with the necessary training and good practices sharing to improve their level of competence to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic with the help of peer cities and available centers of competency.

"Successful experiences in the fight against AIDS as well as the best solutions and treatment are to be found in urban areas. Taking into consideration the number, skills and diversity of experiences of participants at the City AIDS Americas conferences, I know that your work has been useful and rewarding for all, that it has been concrete and practical. I wish you every success in the application of what you learned. Be assured that the CIFAL Network, UNITARand other colleagues from the UN system will accompany you along the way towards achieving better sustainable and inclusive cities."

- Dr. Carlos Lopes, Assistant Secretary General, United Nations, Executive Director of UNITAR
