City AIDS
Vision City AIDS Network is a key component of the solution to reach one of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) of eradicating HIV/AIDS by fostering the ownership and competency of local authorities in responding to the pandemic in urban areas. Mission To provide local authorities and local actors with the necessary training and good practices sharing to improve their level of competence to combat the HIV/AIDS pandemic with the help of peer cities and available centers of competency. Goals To establish and facilitate on-going exchanges of knowledge and experience among field practitioners of the top 250 urban areas most affected by the HIVAIDS pandemic worldwide. Approach The City-AIDS methodology is based on knowledge management techniques, providing a participatory approach to learning whereby local actors take responsibility and solve their own problems by learning from each other. The City-AIDS initiative involves the expertise of municipalities, civil society organizations, NGOs, enterprises as well as the academic sector. Target audiences are local authorities and decision makers at the local level, and parliamentarians. |
