Luis A. Aguilar
Aguilar's previous experience includes serving as the general counsel, executive vice president, and corporate secretary of INVESCO and a member of its board of directors and management committee. As such, he had responsibility for all legal and compliance matters regarding INVESCO Institutional. Previously he served as INVESCO's managing director for Latin America. His career also includes tenure as a partner at several prominent national law firms and as a staff attorney at the Securities and Exchange Commission. Aguilar was named as one of Georgia's Super Lawyers 2004, 2005 and 2006 as published in Atlanta Magazine and Georgia Super Lawyers Magazine. He is also listed in the 2005-06 edition of The Best Lawyers in America. He was named Member of the Year in 2005 and the Atlanta Hispanic Businessman of the Year in 1994 by Georgia Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. He received MALDEF'S (Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund) "Excellence in Leadership" Award in April 2005. He was also named the 2005 Latino Attorney of the Year by the Hispanic National Bar Association. Aguilar is active in numerous civic and business associations. Aguilar is an original member of the Advisory Council of Hemisphere, Inc., the organization established by the Governor of Georgia to lead the effort of Atlanta to be named the Permanent Secretariat of the Free Trade Area of the Americas. A graduate of the University of Georgia School of Law, Aguilar also
received a master of laws degree in taxation from Emory University.
Additionally, he has successfully completed Series 7, 24, 63 and 65
examinations in connection with serving as a director and senior officer
of a registered broker-dealer. |
